As in any realm of education, assessment of Global Education is important. Teachers need to be able to determine a student's degree of understanding of Global Competence and where students need additional support. The resources on this page will help you in your assessment of Global Competence.
global_education_checklist.pdfThe Global Education Checklist from Fred Czarra (2002) is a great starting point in assessing Global Education. This resource will allow you to assess global engagement at the student, teacher, school, district, and state level. From the knowledge gained, you can begin to build more global competence into areas of high need. More information on teaching from a global context can be found in Smith & Czarra (2003).
Global Competence Matrices.pdfThe Global Competence Matrices from EdSteps and Asia Society (2011) break down the skills students should build in specific subject areas as per the four areas of global competence: investigate the world, recognize perspectives, communicate ideas, and take action. This is an assessment resource that can be readily used in building curriculum.
World Savvy Global Competence Matrix 2014.pdfThe Global Competence Matrix (2014) from World Savvy identifies characteristics of a Globally Competent person. This one-page document can help you and your students identify how they can better understand and display Global Competence. This matrix was developed with Asia Society and Teachers College at Columbia University.
